-Cut to Obeservatory-

Sefiny: She finally sees.
Ramethus: And sees what she must do.
Sefiny: It won't be much longer.

Cynthia: What are you guys saying. She's all but said that she was going to jump into the void. You can't let her do that. It's suicide.

Ramethus: There is no other way she will succeed. You have seen that she has the power to finish it.
Sefiny: All she needs is the courage and will to do it.

Cynthia: I can't believe th.......

Sefiny: Watch and you will see dear child.
Ramethus: I feel that path is about to meet us as well.
Sefiny: I feel it too.

Cynthia: (Uncer her breath)What are you guys mumbling about?

( OOC: I'm thinking of following your advice, Leon. But I don't know if the spin off RPG will last long. If I do start one, I'm hoping Wolfgang and Gettles join, since our story has not finished. And maybe some cameo appearances by some of you guys...?

I guess I'll do it. But it'll be a short one. It'll basically be a side story to Icerfall's Observatory. Now, I just need to tie up my story here and think of a way to continue in the new RPG.)

The wind continues to pull the Star mage towards it as she holds her position. Nalyr hoots uncomfortably as he tightens his claws around Icefall's arm. She looks at the snow owl sadly.

You must go, Nalyr. I don't want harm to befall you in what's about to happen.

Nalyr hoots at her while talking in mindspeech.

No, you must go. You have a family at the observatory and you should be there to take care of them, dear friend. I know you've been with me for a long time and I only care for your safety. Please, you must go.

The owl still holds firmly onto her arm.

My bonded, please don't do this.

Nalyr continues his perch, not moving.

*sigh* Stubborn like me, I see. A mind set which is hard to change.

Icefall slowly begins to walk towards the dark rift, keeping her feet grounded with energy. She works to gather energy and mana from everything she can, holding more power than when she cast the scrying spell so long ago and more power than when she teleported herself and the others to the mountain. Nalyr holds steady on her arm, aiding as much as he can to gathering and holding energy for her. As they get closer, things seem to pop in and out of vision, almost as if the objects are uncertain of their own reality. With each approaching step, the darkness pulls at them, trying to draw them in on its own terms.

May the Constant One protect us.

Icefall and Nalyr walk past Dissius, entering into the void.

A man is only as strong as his weakness
From: Dranick | Posted: 11/15/00 7:26:07 PM
<Dranick was in his final moments. As he floated helplessly through the void, his life began to flash before him.> ::Stop... Do not remind me of what you have done to me in my past...:: <Dranick was confronted with visions of himself, surrounded by brown skinned, muscular somewhat pig-like creatures.> ::I was young and foolish then... I attacked the nearby Gorbesh camp. They had easily detained me, and tortured me until I was down to a mere thread of my life, the sadistic creatures. Then they finally decided to kill me, and just threw me out into the entrance of the camp to lay there and rot. But that is when you came... You offered to restore me to life, if I did not mind being slightly influenced by your nature, Damaris... It sounded as though an incredible and merciful offer... Little did I know what your true intentions were.::

<Long after his foolish death, the Gorbesh had finally been destroyed. The body of Dranick was never found, but on the site where he had died, black energy was gathering. As it faded, it left the body of Dranick standing there. He slumps down to the ground, horribly weak.> ::The first moments of my return to life... You allowed me control of myself most of the time... At first you only took over to guide me out of situations I would not survive. But now I know why you began to control me more and more... With the amount of freedom from your nature you allowed me, I was still considered mortal. I was aging, and you were not able to stop the process in time to keep me in my strongest stage of life. You wanted someone else to carry out your will... But not just any person would do. You needed someone with my strength... my potential.::

<Now he sees himself with a beautiful woman. Together they have a son, and name him Kaeden. But then, Dranick sees himself standing over the woman, his hands soaked with her blood. Those blood-soaked hands holding Kaeden.> ::You never had qualms with killing someone just because they seemed to be of no more use. You controlled me, and forced me to kill her... You wanted me to raise Kaeden to grow into a powerful being. When he was at his peak, you would control him and dispose of me. But your plans were interrupted.::

<An old, yet unbelievably powerful Moon Mage followed Dranick's trail, avenging his now slain daughter dominating every thought in his mind... And when Kaeden was the mere age of two, he finally found Dranick. both beings were powerful, but after a long battle, Damaris forced the half-dead Dranick to retreat. Damaris could not afford to have the old mage follow him, so he left Kaeden, knowing that he would rather save his daughter's son than leave him to his fate in the fields to destroy Dranick.> ::Though you had made me very powerful, you had not fully settled into my body. Thus, you were defeated, and left Kaeden so you would have a safe retreat. The old man would doubtlessly train Kaeden to grow strong in the ways of a Moon Mage... You would come back for him later.::

<Dranick is now seen travelling the world, slowly becoming stronger through practice in magic.> ::Until then, you must make my form stronger... For sixteen years, I trained in the dark art of sorcery... But then it was time to make your move to take Kaeden. For another year, you travelled Elanthia, searching for him. Eventually, you arrived in The Crossing, where the second largest Moon Mage guild stands. You heard Kaeden was here... But no matter how long you searched, you could not find him. It was as though he had disappeared into thin air, and no one knew what had become of him... Or at least, no one was saying what had happened to him... This angered you greatly. But then another thing interested you... You heard of the Dark Solar Mages. They had come from another planet, and were forcing Elanthians into their numbers, and sending them back to their home planet, which was unbelievably near. This was a likely way to find him... Perhaps he was sent to their home planet by them, explaining his disappearance. I was to seek them out, and join them.::
From: Dranick | Posted: 11/15/00 7:56:26 PM
(My... This is my longest post yet.)

<The time came that Damaris found them... He agreed to join, and was sent to the home planet.> ::You were quite pleased with their elitist society... This would allow you to easily advance to a position of power. On the home planet of the Dark Solar Mages, you felt Kaeden to be somewhere near... But not in the Dark Solar Mage camp. And it seems he was not a Dark Solar Mage at all.You were half right in your assumption... He was here, but not by the hand of these mages... But by who, then?..... Kssarh... he has that kind of power at his fingertips. But why would he send Kaeden here? But you would attempt to find out all you could about Kaeden as he is now, and find a way to lure him to you... You sent your eye to spy on him from a distance, and sometimes even went yourself. And when you learned of his Gwethdesuan, you began to contact his mind through that, coaxing him to you... It was all set in motion when that fool left the safety of the camp to travel north.::

<It is shown to him when he was sitting on the mountain near the Solar/Star Mage camp. He stands, and begins to travel north to prepare the ambush of Kaeden.> ::You and several Dark Solar Mages captured him and took him back to camp. However, you could not just possess him and destroy me... Should the Dark Solar Mages see that, they would kill Kaeden, ruining everything you had worked to do thus far. For a moment you thought you could perhaps just stay in me, and use me to accomplish your purposes... But I had rebelled against you due to the horrible things you had forced me to do. When you grew tired of attempting to make me follow you again, you began to persuade the Dark Solar Mages to attack me.... You focused their minds on their thoughts of questioning and suspicion against me... But you were not yet going to leave me. You gave me a bit longer a chance to follow you. But I refused.::

<It is shown where the black energy seems to be leaving Dranick, while facing Zadorin...> ::You left me to die at their hands. but as a desperate action, I made a shred in reality as my one chance of escape... But you seemed to be the one who made up most of my power. My spell nearly killed myself, and you preserved me to suffer the pain of the void, as your final parting ''Gift''... But you can not stay to preserve me much longer... Kaeden is soon to die as well, and you will have to offer him what you offered me before Urrem'Tier comes for his soul...:: <And as he thinks that final thought, the image in his mind fades to nothing... Dranick's shell crushes inward as the void causes him to implode. Damaris knew it was time to enter the next stage of his plans. But the main camp of the Dark Solar Mages had been mostly destroyed. How shall he ascend to power now?>
