Ashmere: ''I just wish this was all over with already.'' Teferi: ''I know, I know, but it isnt. Now what do you think we should do?'' Ashmere: ''I agree with dropping the barrier.'' Raen frowns. Ashmere: ''But, we should set up some silent magic alarms, should the dark ones try to attack.'' Raen: ''Fine, but I still think we should just strengthen the barrier. If we had the full council this wouldnt be a problem.'' Jered: ''If we had everything and everyone we needed, then we wouldn't be in our current situation. We mustn't dwell on that.'' Teferi: ''Okay, so is it unanimous? Take down the barrier but set up some silent alarms?'' The other three nod. Ashmere: ''Will we tell the other mages here? They will be in an uproar if they knew the barrier is down.'' Raen: ''Most will know within seconds of us taking it down. This isnt something we can hide from them.'' Jered: ''I'll go and tell everyone, try to keep the panic to a minimum, you know?'' Teferi nods in agreement. Jered stands up and leaves the tent. Teferi: ''We'll take down the barrier after Jered has told the camp.'' The council moves back to their seats and faces the two men still standing before them. Ashmere: ''Unless you have more that you would like to tell us about the dark solar mages, you are dismissed.''

Raen: ''How far off is this village? I don't know of any villages in this vicinity.'' Meanwhile, outside Kaeden's tent is Icefall. Not wishing to wake him if he is asleep, she takes up a seat on the ground against a tree opposite the tent opening. I hope he awakens soon.

-Cut to obeservatory- Ramethus: Unfortunately Icefall was not in on the council. Sefiny: Yes rather unfortunate. Cynthia: Why's that? Seinfy: If she were she most definately would have felt... Ramethus: The potential of the shield. Sefiny: Yes her powers are extraordinary compared to the rest of them.... Ramethus: She just has to see it for herself. Cynthia: What of the shield. Jered makes his way through the camp area, telling all of the star and solar mages about the council's decision. Not suprisingly, some react with hostility towards the messanger. Man: ''What kind of a councilman are you? How is taking down the barrier protecting us from the dark ones going to protect us?'' Jered: ''Others have been finding ways through. The barrier is only wasting our energy which we will need for when the dark ones try to attack us agian.'' The mage frowns at Jered. Man: ''Well I assume the council knows best.'' Jered: ''Thank you for understanding, Markis.'' Jered eventually reaches Kaeden's tent. Icefall stands up and walks over to him. I think he is sleeping right now. Probably best to leave him be for now. Jered nods and faces Icefall. Jered: ''I'm going around telling everyone of the council's new decision to take down the barrier.''

Icefall looks shocked. Take down the barrier? I know that people have been getting through, but it is doing its job for the moment, isnt it? No dark ones have gotten in yet. Jered: '''Yet' is the word though. Its only a matter of time before they do. The barrier is being supported by the council right now and we feel that our energy should be saved for later on.'' Even so, the barrier also keeps out other things such as wolves and other unwanted animals. With the dark ones using their bonded as attack beasts, that barrier is still important. Need I show you my wounds? Jered: ''That was only one incident. I highly doubt they will do it again.'' How can you be so sure? Do you know their motives and plans? Jered: ''No, of course I dont.'' Then dont act as if you do. None of us know what they will do next. We have to be prepared for anything. If anything at all, the barrier is making it harder for them to get through, which buys us time to prepare for whatever may occur. Jered: ''I'm sorry, Icefall, but the council's decision still stands. After it is taken down, we will set up some silent alarms.'' Silent alarms? Those are easy to bypass and you know it. Jered: ''Yes, well not everyone knows that, you know.'' Icefall gives a sigh. I know the council is doing their best for all of us. Sorry to have troubled you, Jered. I still thing the barrier should stand, but I know you are just doing your job. The light solar mage nods at Icefall. Jered: ''I understand your view. We aren't too happy about doing it either. Well I better be off to finish telling everyone.'' Good luck, Jered. To you and the council. Jered nods once more and then heads off for the rest of the camp. Icefall resumes her seat on the ground opposite Kaeden's tent.

Outside of camp, about half a mile away, a young man is franticaly looking for someone. The young man is dressed in a ninja outfit complete with a short blade attached to his back. The ninja swiftky moves across the forest. His movement is silent since he mastered the art of stealth. Ninja: ''Brother! Brother, where are you? Damn! If I hadn't left the village, Shinji would've never left the village also. He thought. His brother, Shinji, went to look for him because their village was attacked. Shinji was seeking his elder brother's help. Ninja: Shinji?! Where are you??? The ninja nears the campsite...

The ninja grows impatience. He has been searching for Shinji for over an hour. He's already traveled about three miles from his village... Ninja: Damn it, Shinji! Where are you?!?! As the ninja continues his search, his mind begins to wander... (10 years ago.) It is summer and the village is bustling. Near the the outskirts of the village, a small dojo is home to an old man. The old man is a martial arts master. ''He's the best in the land.'' Many would say. ''Sensei Genkaku is the greatest!'' Genkaku is teaching a young teenager the ways of the martial arts. Genkaku: Listen to me, Shiro-kun, you must pay attention! The master showed the young lad a very intricate maneuver. Genkaku: Now, you try it. Remember, try not to think about perfection, let it come to you. The boy attempted to mimic the same moves his master so gracefully, executed. But he could not get it right. Shiro: Ugh! I can't do it, sensei! Genkaku: Don't ever say that! You are the prince of this village! It is your duty to learn the ways of the ninja, and pass it on to further generations! With these skills, you can protect the village! Now, try again. Shiro: Yes, Sensei. Shiro reluctently followed his master's order. He greatly respects his master. He'd never think of disobeying Genkaku. But, secretly, he hated the training. He hated the disiplen that comes with the vigourous training. He hated the fact that he was a prince. He felt he can't handle the great responsibility. He wished he was like his friend, Tetsuo. Free, no responsibilities. Tetsuo had no one to tell him what to do, since he's a wanderer. A ronin... (Today.) Ninja: A ronin... The ninja continues his search...
