A mixture of emotions rush through Icefall as she rereads the scroll for a second time. She quickly rolls the scroll back up and makes a dash back to camp with the three rolls of paper in hand, still glowing. Absently, Icefall forgets to bypass the alarms as she returns, setting them off. As she hurries back to the council's tent, she runs into Raen, heading for the alarms.

Sorry, that was me. False alarm, sorta. Come on! I have news for the coucil, most of which they will not like.

Raen nods and begins to run alongside Icefall. They burst into the tent, breathing hard and startling Teferi and the others. Icefall drops the glowing scrolls on the small table from before and takes a seat on a chair in the back of the tent. Raen resumes her chair behind the council's table. Icefall begins to talk, speaking raggedly between breaths.

Those are...communication...scrolls. They have a message now, but its...nothing good.

Teferi and the others circle the small table and open one of the scrolls to read the message on the once blank sheet.

Icefall looks over at Teferi, the fist to finish reading.

What do you think we should do? How'd he even know about Nalyr? I sent him to stay at the observatory with his family to make sure they stayed safe. I hope they are all still okay.

Icefall looks up at the tent ceiling worriedly.

Teferi: ''I'm sure they are alright. But note that he didnt mention Nalyr by name, so he must have just heard somewhere that you had an owl. A dark spy or something probably saw you two together at some point. I doubt that they know you two are bonded. Otherwise they would have...''

I know, I know. Nalyr is still alive. I know that much. How will I get him here though? He is miles away.

Jered: ''Good question, if we chose to trust this Gerrard, Leon, whatever, fellow.''

Ashmere: ''He seems sincere enough.''

Raen looks at Ashmere oddly.

Raen: ''He also said he is in the dark one's camp and an apprentice to one of their leaders! How are we to trust that?!''

I'll call Nalyr anyways although I dont know how long it will take him to get here. They have Kaeden. We have to help him!

Raen: ''How can we be sure that they have him?''

Jered: ''Search the camp, duh.''

Raen gives Jered a nasty glare.

Teferi: ''Enough you two. The council will begin to look to see if Kaeden is still in camp or not. Icefall, you better call Nalyr.''

Icefall nods and exits the tent while the council prepares a search. She goes off a ways and climbs up into the branches of a large tree. Sitting on a limb, she closes her eyes and begins to send out a mindcall to her friend. After a minute or so of hard concentration, she reaches Nalyr's mind. She is immediately greeted by him. After making sure that Nalyr's family was safe, Icefall began to tell Nalyr what was going on.

*Will you come and help us?*

Nalyr gives her a positive reply and sends images of him preparing to take off.

*A speed spell will help you get here sooner. Do you need my help?*

The owl replies in asking for help, so Icefall begins to gather energy, which she begins to send out to her friend. Soon she begins to feel a slowness in the air, telling her that the spell had taken affect. Icefall allows the extra energy to run back into the earth. She gives her friend a few words of encouragement and then breaks her contact with him, opening her eyes. She looks around at the slowly moving leaves in the trees. Observing the run-off affects of the spell cast by her bonded, Icefall decides to remain in the tree until Nalyr arrives and the speed spell wears off.

::Hmm... So Gerrard, or Leon, is a Dark Solar Mage... And he casted that same spell that Dranick had used. But I doubt that that is Dark Solar Magic... Hmm, but then again, Dranick said that they began with the Dark side of their magical circle, Solar Magic, then they would begin experimenting in others. But still, there seems to be a relation between them... But he seems to be betraying his fellow Dark Solar Mages... I guess my only chance currently is to attempt to stall until they hopefully arrive.::

Hmmph... So this is how it was meant to be.

After a few hours, Nalyr contacts Icefall, letting her know that he is nearing the mountian. She replies with encouragement and lets him know her exact location. Another hour or so passes when Icefall catches a glimpse of Nalyr flying towards her at what to her looks like a normal speed. She knows though that both of them are under the speed spell still. To a passerby, Nalyr would look like a speeding bit of movement accross the sky. From Icefall and Nalyr's point of view, they moved normally, but everything else was slowed down excessively. Icefall hops out of the tree as Nalyr begins to swoop down. He lands firmly on her outstreatched arm, fixing his claws deep into her exposed flesh, yet no look of pain came from Icefall. She smiles at her bonded and begins to scratch him behind one of his ears.

You did very well, Nalyr. I'm so glad you were able to come. No injuries, right?

The snow owl proudly shakes its head and shows off its wingspan so Icefall can see that he is okay. Icefall smiles and then reaches into her pouch with her free hand.

While we wait for the spell to wear off, I thought you might like a few treats.

She takes a seat under the tree, Nalyr still clinging to her arm. Icefall begins to feed her friend as they wait.

Meanwhile in camp, the council had done a thourough sweep of the camp, searching for Kaeden. Unable to find him, they returned to thier tent.

Teferi: ''It does appear that Kaeden is missing. Raen, do you think it could have been Kaeden you sensed passing the alarms before?''

Raen: ''Anything is possible, but if he was taken captive, wouldnt he have left the camp with another person? I only felt one trigger the alert.''

Jered: ''Alarms are easy to bypass. Perhaps his captor knows how to keep from setting them off, but didnt bother to do so for Kaeden as well.''

Ashmere: ''Maybe the captor carried Kaeden out of camp and triggered it himself.''

Raen: ''Like I said, anything is possible. Kaeden could have even left camp on his own and been attacked outside of camp. We really have no way of knowing.''

Teferi: ''True, true. Another matter we have to determine is which camp this Leon or Gerrard fellow wants Nalyr to go to. Does he mean our camp, or the camp of the dark ones? A snow owl like Nalyr will be very obvious in their camp, I would think. Plus, we dont know where their camp is.''

The council sits in silence while they think. One of the communication scrolls still lays open on their long table. The other two scrolls sit beside it, still rolled up.

<Dranick paces near the tent that Kaeden resides in, emerged in his thoughts.> ::He seems to be taking as much time as possible... But why? There is something going on, I can feel it... And I will find out... But I shall find out tomorrow.:: <Dranick breaks off from his pace and starts heading towards one of the large tents near the center of the camp, and enters it.>

- cut to observatory

Ramethus: It is a happening as we have seen.
Sefiny: It's only a matter of time before is able to show himself.

Cynthia: Who?

Ramtehus: Truxiouse, the Source.....
Sefiny: we have told you of.
Ramethus: A former Star......
Sefiny: Before the Cosmos stripped him of the honor.
Ramethus: Stars are evolved beyond such primitive themes as good and evil, so once could.....
Sefiny: not describe Truxiouse as evil, however...
Ramethus: even we are capable of crimes against Existence.
Sefiny: Such an offense mortals do not hold the ability to fathom, let alone understand.
Ramethus: Because of his actions the Cosmos removed his Starlight as punishment.
Sefiny: Unfortunately the removal of his Light also partially removes his understanding of the Universe.
Ramethus: He reverted to such primitive ideas as good and evil....
Sefiny: And revenge. He wants revenge on Existence for what he believes is an injustice....
Ramethus: which is an impossiblity since evil, good, vengeance, tolerance....
Sefiny: they do not indeed Exist.

Cynthia: Whoa! Slow down. Okay first things first, who is this Cosmos things you keep bringing up.

Ramethus: The Cosmos, Existence.....
Sefiny: the Universe. They are all one in the same...
Ramethus: It is the make up of what would....
Sefiny: be Reality. It is everything you know and everything which you can't know.

Cynthia: Oooookay. So he wants revenge, what's he doing messing with Dranick.

Ramethus: What Dranick does and what the other DSMs do and have done are their decisions, Truxiouse is in no....
Sefiny: way compelling them for anything not of their own will
Ramethus: Remember Stars are forbidden by the Cosmos to directly interfere with mortals...
Sefiny: And when removed of their Light former Stars are no longer possess the power needed to appear in mortal Reality.....
Sefiny: That is why Truxiouse has not yet appeared, not for his lack of wanting.....
Ramethus: but for his inability to return to Reality.
Ramethus-Sefiny: Truxiouse's role in the whole matter is simply to be a Source from which those who choose to can draw their power.

Cynthia: You mean the DSMs power comes from Truxiouse. But how if he isn't in reality.

Ramethus: He is not in Reality, but he is very much real.
Sefiny: Though he can not yet return to Reality, his power can still be drawn upon.
Ramethus: We are afraid we can simplify it no more.
Sefiny: And yes child. He is the Source of their power, though they do not know. All magic is...
Ramethus: ultimately drawn from Stars. Solar mages draw upon a single, yet very near Star for power.
R-S: Star mages uses the collective power of many, but distant stars for their magic. Moon mages use that of reflected starlight for their ways.
Ramethus: Moon relfections though considerably weaker than direct starlight are more freely available in the sense that......
Sefiny: while starlight is reservable, all reflected light from heavenly boides are consumable. This is the explaination for the high power of some Moon mages.
Ramethus: Earth mages and other kindred draw power in similar mannars.

Cynthia: Wait. What does reservable and consumable mean here.

Ramethus: Stars hold unimaginable power, the full use of which is very dangerous for mortals to wield....
Sefiny: Therefore Stars never give thier full strength to any mage, therefore it is reserved.
R-S: Reflected energy such as that of a moon is the energy which is truly given by the Stars, this reflected light is totally available for usage, hence consumable. The two energies are essentailly at the same level.
Sefiny: Which is why Truxiouse is such a danger.
Ramethus: He has all of the energy of a Star and is failable to the ideas of good and evil.
Sefiny: Realty's protection from such as he was his abscence from it altogether.
R-S: But that may change in the near future.

Cynthia: But, how. I mean the DSMs and him, how does it all fit?

Sefiny: Being outside of Reality Truxiouse is powerless to affect the lives of mortals.
Ramethus: However those mortals in search of power beyond that which is rightfully theirs will are likely to accomplish what he needs without interference.
R-S: He provides all the energies of a Star in the consumable from like that of a Moon reflection. As we have said mortal handling of such power....
Sefiny: is extremly dangerous. And now for 500 years...
Ramethus: the DSMs have been cultivating this destructive power for thier own uses.

Cynthia: But how does this benefit Truxiouse?

Ramethus: The use of such power by a mortal will eventaully lead to his entrance back to reality.
Sefiny: Stars cannot interfere with mortals, nor can they alter their Reality. Mortals themselves however may alter their Reality as they wish.
Ramethus: You see this everyday as people live their lives with uncertain futures. The uncertainty is that of an everchanging reality.
Sefiny: With the irresponsible energies that Truxiouse provides mortals may change their Reality beyond that which is safe for themselves, they will alter their fate and destiny past that which they are supposed to.
Ramtehus: Dangerous steps have already been taken as the DMSs have moved the Stars in the sky. Tee Stars are of course unharmed by this, but these action have serious ramification in the future.
Sefiny: As the Stars are further moved, Reailty is further changed. Eventaully, as there are more alterations, Reality it self will tear.
Ramethus: And through the tear will emerge Truxiouse, who will seek venegeance.
Sefiny: Of course the Cosmos do not allow for such a things a true vengenace and Truxiouse will ultimately fail.
R-S: However is is liable to destroy all of reality in the process of doing so. We can cannot interfere in the live of mortals. But we can prevent others from interfering with it as will.
Sefiny: The Cosmos knows there is no good and evil, however the destruction of Reality is indeed unwanted.
Ramtehus: Apart from anchoring our Starlight and observing the action of Icefall and the DSMs, we will attempt...
Sefiny: to engage with Truxiouse should Reality be torn before Icefall completes her quest.

Cynthia: Ai. That's very heavy stuff. How much longer before Truxiouse can re-enter reality.

Sefiny: That is uncertain. It is dependent on the action of your friends and their foes.

Cynthia: Okay then. But what's so special about Icefall, wouldn't an elder mage like Teferi be more affective against the DSMs. Why did you choose to contact Icefall?

Ramethus: Icefall's potential for control is at least tenfold that of anyone else. She can wield that power of the star and harnest their destructive force without letting it destroy her in the porcess.
Sefiny: She only must learn to use this control and the energies of the Northern Star will be reveilved to her. With this she lead a succes stand against the DSMs and unbeknownst to her, but secure a chance at stopping Truxiouse before he re-enters Reality.
R-S: She MUST however learn for herself, we cannot interfere.

heaven's gate, gemini shatter

- Cynthia is taken as back as the symbiotic energy being she has come to know seperate into two different globules of light and reform separately, one in the form of Sefiny and one as Ramethus-

Sefiny: In case her development is late however, we must be prepared to face Truxiouse.

Ramethus: It it safer to be of separate bodies in case something unfortunate may befall us.

Sefiny: It is a shame however, the Shileding the other mages had was was increasing her energy control quite rapidly. Now she must do it one her own.

Ramethus: Yes, but it was thier decision.

Cynthia: Whoa! So what's next.

Sefiny: Again we wait.

Ramethus: That is the extent of our involvement for now.

-cut back to campsite-

OOC:Sorry for not posting for so long. I got Diablo 1 and 2 and have been working more, too, so I've been quite busy lately.
BIC:
Grexx walks over to Icefall, looking like he just woke up from a hard nights sleep
Hey. Icefall. I request that you take me along when and if you attack your enemy. I need a good fight to forget some....old memories. Besides, I have talents beyond that of an ordinary knight.
Chuckles softly to himself
Here is a hint of what it is.
Holds up his hand in front of him, where no one else can see it but Icefall, and it begins to slightly waver and then grows larger, taking on a dark brown hue and pebbly texture, while silver claws emerge from the tips of the fingers
Then, the hand becomes smaller, finer, and completely jet-black,
and finally reverts back to normal

There. I didn't want to do more, as this is a secret I'd like to keep as well kept as possible, but if it causes you alarm, I shall leave, as you have enough to worry about enough right now.

Leon thinks to himself and stays in deep thought. He imprints these onto the open scroll.

::The owl....forget about the owl. I do not have time to relay the information to you. If you are going to attack, head two miles north of you camp at noon and be ready. I'll meet you there and tell you what to do. If you don't attack now, it'll be your life. As the mages here are training, preparing for an attack. If you catch them off guard...Think of the possibilities...::

He closes his thoughts and heads outside the barracks to the pacing Dranick out in the central square.

''Excuse me....Sir...I may have some information that may be useful to you.''

During the council's silence, Ashmere looks over at the open scroll and then begins to point excitedly at it. The other three mages look from her to the paper as a new message is added to the bottom of the page under the old one. Once the new words stop appearing on the page, the group begins to read it.

Teferi: ''Someone better go tell Icefall that we wont need Nalyr now.''

But he just flew a good distance to get here.

Everyone turns to see Icefall standing inside the tent, next to the opening. The speed spell had worn off and both she and Nalyr both appeared to move at normal speeds now. Nalyr is perched on her arm, but then flaps over to land on a chair in the corner where he begins to preen himself.

Ashmere: ''We just got a new message from Gerrard saying that Nalyr won't be needed now and that we should suprise attack the camp tomorrow. He gave us directions to find it even.''

Do you even know how many dark ones are in this camp? Did he tell you that?

Jered: ''No, he didnt.''

I don't care who he is, but that Gerrard guy still irks me. I find this all very suspicious. First he says that he is Gerrard, then he dissapears but leaves behind communication scrolls for us to read where he stated that his name is Leon and that he is an apprentice to the dark ones. Now he writes to give you hints on how to plan a suprise attack on the dark solar mages. Whose side is he on?

Teferi: ''Very valid points, Icefall, but if we dont act soon, they will attack first. Our numbers keep decreasing, yet theirs are growing. If we have the advantage of first stike, we could win.''

If you had kept the barr--

Jered: ''The barrier is a mute point by now. It is gone and we are not going to reinstate it.''

Icefall looks at the council, sighs, and begins to make her way out of the tent. Nalyr notices her going and follows.

While you decide to trust apprentices to the dark ones, I'm going to go outside and think rationally about the situation we are in. I advise you to at least pause and think. Promise me that much before acting, please.

Teferi nods his head.

Teferi: ''We will look at all of our options first, before thinking of battle.''

Thank you.

Icefall and Nalyr exit the tent.
