From her position not too far off from Zadorin and the rest of the council, Raen notices the absence of the dark dome.

Raen: The light will still prevail! Now to deal with this situation...

Raen casts the energy she had gathered at the vacuum. Her spell surrounds the other spell and slowly begins to weaken its strength. The vacuum's winds begin to die down and Raen lets go of the tree she was holding on to.

Raen: As for you, sir, you don't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Now if you will excuse me, I have to go and help my friends.

With that, Raen starts to progress towards the rest of the council. The solar light mage moves over the fallen bodies of mages of both sides and attacks any living dark mages in her path.

A flash of light in the sky distracts Raen and a good number of other mages, causing people to pause in their battle. She watches as white flames crash into the earth, setting fires and injuring others. Raen moves quickly to avoid the falling sky.

Who cast such a spell? Whats going on?!

As she moves closer to the council and the man that had attacked her earlier, she makes sure to keep behind her enemy and out of sight.

A few yards away, Raen stops long enough to gather some energy. Between her hands, Raen shapes the spell into a thin sheet. The spell is as warm as a sunbeam and as translucent and shimmery as a dew drop. Gently, Raen tears the 'sheet' into millions of pieces and blows them into the air towards the man in black. As each piece moves closer to its target, it sharpens and picks up speed.

With the spell set on its course, Raen notices a group of men in the black cloaks of the dark ones, moving around and picking up members. She watches with disgust as the group overtakes a single solar light mage and the dark mage he was fighting joins the group.

Now what do they have planned?</b?

Raen works to blend into the crowd and begins to follow the dark ones.

(This post comes in response to Icefall's latest post that has to do with Teferi, Ashmere, and Jered, as I accidentally overlooked an attack from Teferi in that post.)

<Zadorin, having been too focused on destroying the discs and needles and forming the spheres of darkness, did not hear the comment of Teferi. But having destroyed the spells soon enough to see Teferi, Ashmere, and Jered recovering from the orbs which he had only intended as a distraction, he lets out a small snicker, which continues into Teferi's preparation of such a simple spell. Focusing a small amount of the prepared mana, he forms a modification of the old shield spell; he holds his open hands in front of himself and creates a shield which is attached to his hands and moves with them. As the arrow is released and speeds towards Zadorin, he tilts the shield to the left. The shield and arrow collide, slightly weakening both, but the remainder of the arrow is slanted to move parallel with the shield, passing Zadorin. He does the same to the rest of the arrows, talking to Teferi while he does it.

Zadorin: "Having someone else do the fighting for me, hmm? Do you personally confront every single mage under my command, or do you order your little peons to do your work for you? The same is for me. I can not deal with every single matter by myself, I have more important things to devote my time to. As for the wolves.... My subjects are very loyal, and as your journeymen deserted you to join my cause, as did their familiars become my servants. They were quite willing to do anything that would aid my cause, even sacrifice themselves, which they did."

<The shield is dissipated by Zadorin as Teferi stops sending arrows. Zadorin then finishes answering Teferi's questions.>

"And the stars.... We, the Dark Solar Mages, have been broadening our horizons. As the interests of those below me change, so do the magic circles we experiment in. We have been testing the affects on star magic moving the stars would have, and have come up with many interesting results.... Perhaps you would enjoy seeing one of the stronger spells we have discovered?"

<Using the rest of the mana he had been preparing over time, he begins feeding a spell high above the atmosphere. A star directly above the battlefield flares in bright light... then oddly, it seems that pieces of the star begin breaking off from the rest of it, descending towards the planet. They rapidly shrink as they enter the atmosphere, but enough remains of each pieces that small balls of white fire hit the ground at random. Some strike into tents, causing it to burst into flames, others strike into mages at random, causing them to die from the burns if not from the impact.>
Zadorin: "Hmm.... Sad. Likely the star mages will not be killed by this spell. I am sure they would be better off knowing what it would feel like to die from that which they draw their strength."

(I am now finishing the post which I had put up before, so it should not be considered as posting twice in a row.)

<As Zadorin finishes his statement, His senses discover Raen's spell advancing from his backside. He reacts quickly to the threat by preparing the simple spell force wave while spinning around to face the attack. He puts as much strength into it as possible before he believes the sunlight shards will reach him, then tries to push them back with the wave. Those in front stop and dissippate, but those behind them are only slowed.>

<Though he manages to put up a shield in time to stop most of the rest, several reach him before the shield is created, stabbing into scattered pieces of his body. Though they are quickly eliminated with a small dispel, the damage has been done. He is now bleeding a fairly large amount. However, Zadorin prepares one of his more recent spells. With a small amount of mana focused into it, a black glob of liquid is formed over Zadorin's head.>

<It falls onto him and rushes all over his body, going underneath his robe in what seems to be some sort of cleansing. However, most of the liquid just slides off of him and seeps into the ground. But the rest of it has stuck to where he had an open wound. The bits still on him solidify and act as some sort of magic clot. At this point, the three mages returned, this time with a group of their kind following.>

Dark Solar Mage: "We are organized and prepared as planned in Dark Gamma!"
Zadorin: "Excellent! Start the ritual immediately!" <Zadorin turns his attention towards Teferi.>
Zadorin: "The demonstration is over! Everything will end here, once and for all!"

<Zadorin withdraws to the middle of the group. The ring of mages on the outside begin to set up a wide array of shields and barriers, and ready some offensive magic to fend off the star and solar mages, while the inner circle of mages prepare two different spells. And Zadorin himself began a horribly complex and draining chant.>

<Part of the mages cast the spell they had used at the beginning of the battle, making the sun grow black once more, while the rest focus energy into Zadorin. Zadorin slowly rises up into the air, and as he does, the dark rays of the sun focus themselves onto Zadorin. Zadorin begins to contain them within himself, preparing for the greatest and most dangerous dark solar spell ever created.>

Raen follows the mass of Dark Solar mages as they move through the camp and eventually end up back with Zadorin. She watches with growing curiosity as the mages surround Zadorin in a circle. Subtly, Raen moves through the area until she is behind the council of Light Solar and Star mages.

Teferi notices and acknowledges Raen's arrival. Raen speaks softly to Teferi while the council cautiously eyes the dark mages.

Raen: Are you guys ok? What happened in that dome thing? Who is that guy?

Teferi: I'm glad to see you safe and doing well, Raen. For the most part, we are doing ok right now. That Dark Solar mage over there is Zadorin, the current leader of the dark ones.

Raen: I'm going to get him back for what he did to me earlier.

Raen begins to gather energy for a spell, but Teferi holds her back.

Teferi: Think clearly for once, Raen! Those mages around him aren't for decoration. Can't you sense the shields they are setting up?

Raen: Fine, we'll do this your way.

Raen releases her gathered energy, but a frown still remains on her face.

Suddenly, the sky begins to darken and the council looks up at the sun, which is turning dark again. In the battlefield, many pause briefly to look at the sky before resuming their fight. The council watches as Zadorin begins to gather the dark rays of the sun.

Teferi: This is gone on long enough. We can't let the Dark Solar mages continue like this. I propose that we do what we should have done during the Great Solar Split.

Ashmere, Jered, and Raen all give Teferi a startled look.

Jered: You dont mean what i think you mean, do you?

Teferi: We have no choice. It was a last resort then and it still is now.

Ashmere: But who are we do make such decisions?!

A slight tinge of panic fills Ashmere's voice.

Teferi: We were willing to perform Lost Light before, so why not now?

The council gives a solemn nod to Teferi.

Teferi: Ashmere, you know your part. Jered, Raen, get ready.

With a small look of sadness, Ashmere begins to softly whisper a chant. Although whispering, her voice seems to travel over the battlefield and resonate in the ears of every Star mage and every Light Solar mage. While in a foreign tongue, everyone who heard it knew what it meant. They had learned the warning call long ago and engraved it into memory for if they should ever hear it. Loosely translated, her chant was 'Earth-bound, we once were, earth-bound, we must be again'.

As Ashmere whispers the chant repeatedly, every Solar Light and Star mage begins to gather energy from the planet and set up various shields. Continuing to fight their opponents, they send their excess energy to Ashmere and Teferi.

With that started, Teferi begins to weave and sort the energy being sent to him while starting his own spell in another odd language of soft clicks and mutterings. Translated, it began "Encroaching darkness filled with light..."

<Zadorin continues to rise up, until nothing obscures the path between him and the black sun; The path is open for him to gather power unobstructed. Though he is quickly filled with the sun's strength, to Zadorin it feels as though ages come and pass as the spell is held in a delicate balance. The mages feeding him the power to carry on with this ultimate spell do all within their power to focus their concentration. The spell builds up for several minutes as the star and solar mages scattered about the battlefield set up shield for the oncoming attack. Zadorin would laugh at their foolishness if he could let his mind wander enough to realize what they were doing.>

<But suddenly, the mages stop feeding energy to keep the sun darkened. Having been forced to rely on their magic to fight due to lack of decent weaponry, even their extensively trained nerves can no longer take the pressure. And as Zadorin keeps drawing the darkness of the sun into himself, it begins to regain light... Unfortunately, being so focused into holding his spell in balance, he is completely unaware. Things continue as they are until the last bit of darkness is pulled away from the sun... And Zadorin's spell fades, with nothing left to harness. Zadorin now snaps into realization of what is about to happen.>

::What..... No!! I do not have enough to complete the spell!! This can not be happening!!!::

<Zadorin begins to feel the pressure of containing the massive amount of power within his body, and not being able to focus it into a spell. His concentration fades on his other spell, and he plummets to the ground. He lands with a harsh crunch, as several of his bones break from the impact. Yet, while he should be virtually paralyzed, he is still moving..... He is twitching wildly and thrashing about, as he begins to lose the strength to contain the dark solar rays within him. His mind screams with rage, disbelief, and fear of what is about to happen... Until his mind is devoured by the raging power within him.>

<Realizing what is about to happen, the dark solar mages run at the greatest speed they can muster, despite the pitiful life they would lead if it was not ended here... And as they do, Zadorin's skin begins to bulge as the darkness tries to force itself outside of his still twitching body....>
