(So, I enjoy taking the first syllable of one's poster name and adding a y to shorten the name..like with foxeye....Fox..Wolfgang, Wolfy, Sweendog, Sweeny, and Gaw...well...Gaw...)

Zadorin eventually stops laughing and resumes his speech before the mute Ashmere. She does her best to try and block the Dark Solar mage's voice, trying not to hear him recount the past, but with no way to cover her ears, she quickly gives up.

Zadorin: I didn't know about your crush then of course. I didn't even give you any thought amongst the many I met at that conference. When our paths crossed again though, I was a different man, a person with a dream of power and knowledge.

We were well deep into the Solar Split by then and your kind had sided with my stubborn brothers in 'protecting the light'.

Zadorin snickers at the phrase before continuing on.

Zadorin: Anyway, we had taken many captives during our fight and one just happened to be a certain young female Star mage. You should be proud to know that you were our first Star prisoner. That is why you lived, my dear. We needed you for information amongst other things. If you had been taken later, I would have never seen you, as you would have been tortured to death.

Zadorin stops in front of Ashmere and smirks.

Zadorin: You really should thank me for saving your life, Ashmere.

A fury of conflicting emotions rage within the Star mage as she stares at the man in disgust.

Ashmere: I'd much rather die than thank someone as twisted as you, Zadorin. I'll never let you trick me again like you did back then...

Zadorin: Of course I was intrigued when one of my men told me they had a Star mage in custody. I recognized you immediately. by that point in time, I had caught wind of your rumored feelings about me. Word travels far, don't you think? As a good strategist, I used this to my advantage. With that tiny seed of thought in your mind, I used a spell to coax those feelings to bloom.

Zadorin: I didn't do it all at once though, that being too obvious and then you'd notice. It was a gradual spell. Each day that I interrogated you, I was really just setting more of the spell deeper in your mind, turning what was a simple crush into much stronger feelings.

Ashmere recalled the interrogations well. There had always been a tiny nagging thought in her mind that more was going on that just an interrogation, but eventually her emotions began to cloud her reason and she forgot about it.

Zadorin: I was so close to controlling you, so close! One day you even asked me if you could have an outfit like everyone else at our base. You were about to join us, I could feel it. Just a few more days and it would have happened, but those blasted fools attacked us by surprise and took you and some other prisoners we had back.

Zadorin fumes as he circles the frozen figure of Ashmere again.

Ashmere thinks back to the months of deprogramming and spell therapy she had to go through to have all of Zadorin's work undone in her. She had been so blind in false love that the healers had to keep her restrained so she wouldn't run off...kinda like now...

The woman tries to fight inn panic against the invisible hold on her body again as she realizes what is going on.

Zadorin: That won't happen again though, now will it? You have returned and I won't lose you a second time.

Ashmere struggles harder as Zadorin's words, underscored with an old, familiar spell, work to control her emotions. Feelings of false love take over all of her mind but one little corner, left for Ashmere to consciously watch from.

Zadorin smiles and motions to someone in the dark sea of people. A figure comes forth into the dim circle of light, holding a long box. After handing the box to Zadorin, the figure melts back into the darkness. Zadorin stands before Ashmere and presents the box to her.

Suddenly, the soft and ever present chanting stops and Ashmere feels as the binding spell lifts. She moves to run, but her body stands still. From the conscious corner of her mind, she screams at her body to move, to escape, to get away, but there is no response. Ashmere realizes that the rest of her mind has become focused on the box.

Zadorin: It is a gift for you. Open it.

Ashmere watches helplessly as her arms slowly reach out to the black box and her hands carefully lift the lid. In the flickering light, she can make out some kind of black outfit folded neatly inside.

Zadorin: Put it on and show the world your true allegiance.

Taking the fabric out of the box, Ashmere recognizes the fabric cut as for a cloak. She tries to resist as her hands put it on, but it is useless as she has no control. With it on, Ashmere looks down at her cloak and studies it. It looks exactly the same as the ones the Dark Solar mages wear, except for one thing. Where there is usually an embroidered black sun outlined in red, on hers was a black four-pointed star outlined in red. The Star mage can only stare in horror at it as Zadorin speaks.

Zadorin: Brothers of the dark sun, we have a new member among us now. May I present, Ashmere, of the dark stars!

Ashmere: NO! This can't be! I won't let it!

Zadorin: What do you think of all this, my dark star?

Ashmere: I am not your dark star! I am not yours! Give me control of my body again! What is happening?!

Although that is what her conscious mind screamed at the top of its lungs from its tiny corner, this is what came from her lips:

Ashmere: I am most honored by this gift, Zadorin. Thank you for showing me the true path and setting me right. I will only take orders from you, my leader and love.

Ashmere screams insanely inside her mind to hear such words come from her own mouth, with her own voice.
